I have been lagging in the workout department for well… the past couple of years. Eeeekkk! I used to exercise regularly and typically would do the elliptical machine for 30 minutes and then would hit the sauna or steam room. When I moved to NYC I was walking everywhere, it’s actually pretty easy to walk a couple miles in the course of a day. But my dad kept telling me it’s so good for your heart to actually break a sweat with a workout.

So I was trying to find a workout that I loved. I didn’t want to go back to doing my old elliptical workout routine because I felt like I didn’t really challenge myself on it and therefore wasn’t really getting the results I wanted. I currently don’t have a gym membership and love the idea of running in the park around the Jackie Onassis Reservoir or finding workouts you can do from your home.

Last week I decided to try the Bikini Body Guide workout or #BBG known on social media by Kayla Itsines. I like the concept because the workouts are really intense but for only 28 minutes. I am going to try to do the BBG workout routine every other day and use my daily New York City walking as my low intensity cardio workouts (they count right?!). I’m going to switch off between an abs and arms day and a leg day.

I have only been doing this for a week and a half and let me tell you, my body is completely sore all over! It hurts to laugh, even to walk I can feel the soreness in my stomach and legs. I think this speaks to the fact that I was a) so out of shape and b) that it’s working! And I have to say… I actually love it! I wish I hadn’t taken a couple of years off from working out. My fitness goals are to not care about the scale, but to get stronger, more toned and to be overall healthier on the inside. I took a before picture and in a few months I’ll share the results with you!
