This is not your mother’s 4th of July cake! And by that statement I mean we literally used a cake mix! Gasp! But seriously sometimes the best part about parties is the element of surprise and this cake will likely be as memorable as the fireworks, ok 2nd place at best! I love the idea of frosting the cake all white so your friends and family think you brought a ‘boring white cake.’ Need inspo for your 4th of July party? Follow my instagram or message me in the comments below. Happy Independence Day!
Ingredients:
2 Cake Mixes (and related items)
2 Frostings
Food Coloring
Varied Fruit
The Recipe:
Mix both cake mixes according to instructions, pour batter into 3 bowls (less in the bowl to make blue), generously pour food coloring into the blue and red bowl batters. (Tip: I used the entire bottles to get that deep color!). Pour half of red and white batter into round cake pans and bake for 15 minutes at 350 for all 4 layers. For the blue batter pour into a cupcake section and bake for 7 minutes. Once all layers are cool use a cup the same size as the cupcake to cut the center of the other cakes. Insert the blue piece, frost and decorate to your liking! Tag me and let me know how it turns out!
Wow, that is one colourful cake 😉 I didn’t know that you celebrate the 4th of July like that in America!! Looks delicious…
