Have you guys ever had skin issues? I did. When I was in high school I had acne so bad, no guys noticed me. I remember asking my mom and dad if they ever had acne growing up, and they both said… “his/her acne couldn’t have been worse than mine.” Great, I’m thinking. I went on accutane, which is now called oral isotretinoin. It’s very extreme, it worked, but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it. I was invited recently to the L’Oréal headquarters in New York to learn about La Roche Posay; I wish I knew about this company back in high school. I am convinced that La Roche Posay is a new way of skin care. And here’s why.

It’s straight up out of an ancient thermal fresh spring in France. It was discovered in the 17th century and has been used to treat a variety of skin disorders from eczema, to skin diseases, anti-aging and pimples. Only since 1999 have their products been available to consumers, before that they were only available to dermatologist offices. So clearly La Roche-Posay is deep-rooted in its dermatological heritage.

MY TWO FAVORITE LA ROCHE POSAY PRODUCTS

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Mineral Face Sunscreen. If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile you know I’m a nut about sunscreen. I try to wear it everyday. In this post I talked about my number one favorite beauty product. So I was really excited to hear of a face sunscreen that has both a sun filter formula protecting against both short and long UVA rays aannnddd free radicals. Obviously known to accelerate skin aging. How innovative is that? To top it off, La Roche-Posay combines sun filters with antioxidants in the sunscreen. Um, check please! It’s really light too which is great to wear under my foundation.

For your occasional pimple, I like La Roche-Posay Duo Dual Action Acne Treatment. La Roche-Posay combines Benzoyl Peroxide acne medication with a Lipo-Hydroxy Acid (LHA), which is a gentle micro-exfoliating agent. It’s great for even sensitive skin.

OTHER THINGS I LEARNED

Never put lime on your face. Don’t vigorously wash your face. ANY kind of oil clogs pores. Give your skin a break. Pore strips don’t work, will not get to the root of the problem. When you get a facial, make sure they steam your face first.
